HEY JOHN,
JUST A NOTE TO LET YOU KNOW WHAT A GREAT TIME I, JOBIL QUINN, AND CHAD PARKS
HAD ON THE MEXICO FISHING TRIP. THIS WAS THE BEST TRIP WE HAVE EVER BEEN ON
IN OUR LIVES. THE FISHING ON LAKE COMEDERO WAS ABSOLUTELY FIRST RATE. THERE
ARE VERY FEW PLACES LIKE THIS IN THE WORLD. WHEN YOU CAN GO AND CATCH THE
NUMBER AND SIZE FISH WE DID IT IS ONE GREAT FISHERY. THE FRIDAY ME AND YOU
FISHED TOGETHER WAS WONDERFUL. EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE FISHED TOGETHER COUNTLESS
TIMES OVER THE YEARS I STILL LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY TIME I FISH WITH YOU.
I MUST SAY YOU STAY ON TOP OF YOUR GAME AND ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO SHARE
THE INFO WITH OTHERS. ON ANOTHER NOTE I AM VERY HONORED TO CALL YOU ONE OF
MY BEST FRIENDS. YOU ARE A CLASS ACT, THERE IS NO PRETENTIOUS AIR ABOUT YOU,
YOU ARE A GENUINELY GOOD AND DECENT PERSON WHOM I LOVE TO FISH WITH.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND BEST TO YOU IN YOUR FISHING. ONCE AGAIN I’M
HONORED TO KNOW YOU.

John,
I just wanted to let you know how much Johnny and I enjoyed fishing with you
this past Friday. It was an experience that we will not soon forget. It
would have been awesome even if we hadn't caught fish but I am here to say,
that wasn't the case at all. The fishing was a GREAT! I had the great
fortune of watching my son-in-law land a 9.25 lb. Largemouth Bass, the
largest Bass he has ever caught!
Thank you for giving us such a wonderful day together. We both feel that we
are blessed to have spent the day with you!
God bless your home!

John,
Johnny Wohlgemuth here. I wanted to thank you for the first class guided
bass fishing trip on Fork this weekend. This past weekend was my 3rd time on
Lake Fork & I God really blessed me in catching the biggest bass of my life!
I was looking through some pics I had the first time I went to Fork & those
fish looked like minnows compared to the one I caught.
I was surprised to see myself on your web page already! Cool. By the way, I
will be sending you the pics from my camera on my wife’s e-mail address
because the security on my office computer only allows I.T. to install
software required to send pics & that’s just a pain. (Just a heads up on
that)
I want to contribute to your mission / ministry by giving you feedback to
put on your customer comments section on your page. I’ll write it below.
Blessings on you, your business and family.
Cheers mate.
John,
Thank you for contributing to a day I will be able to tell my kids and
others about for years. You’re attitude and skills are first class from the
launch and back to the dock. God has really gifted you to locate and put
your customers on quality trophy bass at Lake Fork. In business, customers
who have experienced exceptional service give referrals to others who are
also looking for exceptional service. John, you’ve made an impression on me
and I will be talking to my buddies. Thanks for a treating me and my
father-in-law so well on this trip. We’ll be back!
Cheers, Johnny M. Wohlgemuth
John,
I want to let you know that my buddy and I had a great time fishing with you
last weekend. I look forward to fishing with you again in the future. I’ve
told everyone who was interested in listening about how good you are and
about your testimony. Ryan and I are at-least planning to do an annual trip
with you. I hope to see you more often than once a year. Thanks for a great
Lake Fork experience and I pray that God blesses you through the FLW tour.
In His Grip,

John,
It was like I had known you for years!! Thanks for a fun and exciting
trip on Saturday. What I learned in a half-day trip, I can apply for the
rest of my days. Mark and I went out the next morning and attempted to apply
some of the techniques you instructed on, and had success. We know now that
in the heat of the summer, you can catch fish all day. Just showing how to
read the electronics was invaluable. Thanks again for your time and your
willingness to show us a new way of fishing.
Joel |
John,
Thanks and we really had a good time. I appreciate the tips on the
adjustment for my X-25 and after I made them it was much easier to detect
fish. We caught some good fish on Wednesday too! I appreciate the service
you provide and your friendship too. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing
you on the water. Here are a few pix as requested. God bless ya.
Shane A. Beck |
John,
Jeff and I would also like to extend our sincere appreciation for the time
you spent with us yesterday sharing your knowledge on deep-water bassin'.
The time you spent with us on setting up the electronics, graphing potential
locations and the use of the Tackle Factory spoons for schooling and
suspended bass was invaluable in our pursuit of becoming better deep-water
fishermen. You're one class act and will come highly recommended to all
those I encounter in search of a Lake Fork guide. I look forward to fishing
with you again in the future. Keep up the good work!

Hi John, Thank you so
much for an awesome day of fishin! You delivered again by breaking my
previous record of a 9 with a 10 pounder. My heart was beating so fast I was
shaking when I got the second fish of 9 pounds. Robert & I were laughing on
the way home about the 6 pound fish that I barely got to look at. You just
let me take a glance, turned him loose & said he is just a small one. Even
when it was time to quit you would not give up until Robert caught his 7.5.
You are the best! I can't tell you enough how much I enjoy fishin with you.
The good nature, fellowship, professionalism, knowledge of the game & just a
great man. I look forward to fishin with you again.
May God Speed John Tanner & good fishin,
Rod Weaver |
John,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for a great day of fishing.
My wife and I had a wonderful time.
It will be extremely hard to beat, and NEVER forgotten.
I have never caught that many LARGE fish in so little time.
If you get a chance please send photos.
Thanks,

I have been bass
fishing for about 10 years now and those were the two biggest bass I have
ever caught. Just catching one 8 pounder would have made the trip, but two
with a couple of real nice 2-4 pound kickers was amazing. Thanks for such a
pleasant day of fishing, for the conversation, for the instructions and for
being a positive Christian role model. I look forward to fishing with you
again soon.
Your friend,

Big John, What a GREAT
time today fishin with you today. You delivered again on the best day of
fishin in my life. A 9, two 8's, 7.75, 7,6 & several 4 & 5's. I lost count!
Keith & I will be booking all of our trips with you. Please send the photos
to my email. I can't tell you enough what a great time I had & how much your
professionalism means to us. Thanks again & good fishin.

Mr. Tanner,
I just wanted to thank you for a first class fishing experience, we didn’t
catch any hogs but we did manage to hook up with a couple of nice little
chunks.
I did go out Thursday night and fished by myself all night after only
getting bitten my mosquito’s I decided to go and get some breakfast at 6am
and I was going to leave after eating but I decided I was not going home
until I caught a fish. I went back to that creek you took me to. I didn’t do
any good with the Pac frog, which is an awesome bait, but being hooked on a
jig I had to pick it up and pitch at those tree’s. That nice bend you were
talking about in that creek is real nice I pulled the first fish out that
was a two pounder, then I caught a 5 pounder while talking to the same
gentleman that was back there when you and I went through there. He caught a
few small ones but after seeing that, he said it was time for a jig, after
working my way down the creek I didn’t catch any thing else till I got back
to that bend I pitched to the same patch of tree’s and as you say it she
drove off with it, after getting her in the boat with my knees trembling she
weighed in at 9.01lbs my personal best and that wouldn’t have been possible
without you. I just would like to say thanks, and congratulations to you and
your wife with the new baby coming soon.
Thanks and God bless,
Richard Youngblood |
John,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the great time you showed me
and my dad on March 15, 2005. This was not the best day to fish Lake Fork,
but your persistence made it possible for me to land my personal best at
8.5lbs. My dad also boated his best at just under 7lbs. Needless to say, we
had a blast. I have to commend you for the effort you put forth. When most
guides would have quit or put us on small fish, you were diligent enough to
find us some great fish. To others who might be reading this on John's
website, you've got to give John a chance to put you on some lunkers.
John, you're a class act and my Christian brother and I look forward to
fishing again with you soon.
In Him,
Keith Brooks |
John,
Words can not describe the fun we had fishing with you on 10-28-04. I
was pleased to catch a 7.6lb. bass, which was the largest bass i had ever
caught. BUT...the 12.7lb. bass the my wife caught was much more than we ever
expected or thought we would catch. We
thank you so much for your professional service, the spiritual fellowship, and expert guiding. You and
your family will be in our prayers and remember if you come after your boat
and need a place to stay we have a small guest house
that is always open to you and your family.
Please pray that the LORD gives us a good crop
next June so we can come back and have you guide us again.
Again thanks for every thing.
Yours in Christ,
Tony Montgomery

Thanks
for the GREAT day of fishing. We all had a good time and had fun. Pop
(Grady) was so proud of his 7- ponder. It's the largest fish he has ever
caught and remember, he caught it on his 89 th birthday...... What a special
birthday present !
I'm going to try and hook up with you for practice before the Okeechobee
tournament, so let's stay in touch.
Thanks Again,
Ken |

John,
Thank you for a great day of
fishing and teaching. I've been bass fishing for 35 of my 39 years and you
reminded me of the basics and a lot of new big-fish catching techniques. We
caught quality fish from first light to the end of the trip. Our last spot
which we visited 2-3 times that day produced just over 20 pounds of lunker
bass for me in three consecutive casts. We caught fish there each visit, but
that last one - WOW. What a hot spot thanks to your X-15 Lowrance. I tried
to buck the obvious at times and tried other soft plastics and stopped
catching fish. Fishing a Carolina rigged Green Pumpkin Worm (Slow) got bit hard all day - even wacky rigged in the grass. It
produced the big fish hands down.
I'll be booking
trips with you throughout the Winter when everyone's hunting and thinking
the Lake Fork Bass are deep and asleep instead of keeping warm in the grass.
Can't wait. See you
soon.

There is a reason they
call this guy “Big John”, and it is not because he can hit the golf ball 300
yards! He puts you on BIG fish. What I respect about him is that he wants
you to catch your share, but he is not after ten 1/2 lbers. He is after the
BIG HAWGS! He has the top of the line equipment, top of the line boat, and
top of the line expertise to put you on your dreams. This past July, he
helped one of my customers land a fish of a lifetime, 9.9 lbs. The replica
is going on the wall! John - thanks for not only showing us a good time, but
thanks for doing it in an ethical, courteous, and Christian way!

"OH BROTHER WHERE OUT THOW" If you want the
fishing experience of a life time then take a trip with old Soggy Bottom
John Tanner and get ready for a heart pounding experience of being on top of
the Big Ones where only John can get you there. My Son and I recently fished
with John in July and he netted my first double digit fish (10 Pounder
/ 26").
If
your new to Bass Fishing these Big Fish are few and far between in these hot
months except when your fishing with the "OLD SOGGY BOTTOM BOY" who knows
this lake through his 20 Plus years of experience. I can't say enough about
this Man. He is a true professional
in his personal and business life and a great father and Christian. You will
love fishing the Old Soggy Bottom with him. Thanks John for the ultimate
fishing trip.

John,
We appreciate your website and fishing report. Last week, we took your advice and stopped
by Lake Fork Tackle and purchased some 10" Lake Fork worms. We did exactly like you
said and bit the tail off and caught a lot of fish. We caught fish of all sizes including
many in the 1-3 lbs range, a 4.2 lbs, 5.13 lbs, 6.8 lbs and this one which we believe was
between 7-8 lbs. Unfortunately our electronic scale broke because it got wet and we
couldn't weigh this fish.
Please advise why you have nicknamed this "Zig-Zag". The clerk at Lake Fork
Tackle laughed at us. We'd like to know.
Again, we appreciate your fishing report as we fish Lake Fork on a regular basis.

Listen up folks! I had the Fishing time of my Life this past June with John Tanner. From
the first Bass caught on Monday to the last Bass released on Friday it was non-stop heart
pounding, hook setting excitement! John is Outstanding! The whole week I laughed, learned
a ton, and caught Big Bass. If you fish Lake Fork, do yourself a favor, do it with the
Best Guide, and a great person John Tanner, you will not be disappointed.
Kevin Porter |
Folks if you are looking for a guide on Lake Fork,
look no further you have just connected
with the "Mother Load". John is at the top of his game and will provide the
results you are looking for.
On 3/27/02,he provided me with my personal best Bass fishing trip EVER and I have been
fishing for over a half century. With several 4's,5's and a few dinks
already caught and
released, I was able to boat an 8+ a 9+ and a 10+ in a matter of 2 hrs. The credit for such
an awesome experience goes to his exp.
Billy Harrison |
John, I would
like to Thank You for doing an excellent job of putting together our little corporate
outing on 3/24/02. We all had a great time. You are a wonderful; person and an even better
fishing guide. I caught more fish on this one trip than I did on my 4 previous trips
combined. I will be back for sure! People, You must fish with this man!!
David Weatherford |
John made our trip an enjoyable experience. Not only did we catch approx. 20 fish each, we
had a great time doing it. We laughed joked and caught fish all day long. John is very
courteous and puts his customers first. I have fished with other guides that are concerned
about how many fish they catch instead of how many their customers do. John made sure we
were always on fish and made sure we had the proper baits to catch them. (He loves those
Mark Pack worms). I would highly recommend him.
Alan Maggart |
JOHN, I WAS ON MY WAY TO BOB SANDLIN WITH A GUY WHO JUST MOVED TO THE DALLAS AREA FROM
FLORIDA. WE WERE GOING TO PRACTICE FOR AN UPCOMING TOURNAMENT AND HAD A FEW HOURS TO STOP
OFF AT FORK SO I COULD SHOW HIM THE LAKE HE HAS HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT. I TOOK HIM TO A SPOT
YOU SHOWED ME AND WE CAUGHT ABOUT 4 FISH IN SHORT ORDER. YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE HOW EXCITED
HE GOT. I TOLD HIM WAIT UNTIL WE GET WITH A REAL FISHERMAN LIKE JOHN TANNER FOR A TRIP HE
WON'T FORGET.
Tommy Yates |
Am booking my 3rd trip with John for next month...this dude can guide! (See my pic on
photo page) Seriously, I now consider John a good friend and he is just a great guy to
fish with...very knowledgeable and keeps you where the fish are!
Eric Homan |
If you are going to fish Lake Fork, do yourself a big favor and book your trip with John
Tanner. Not only is John a great guide, he will keep you laughing all day. My best friend
and I have fished with John whenever we have gone to Lake Fork and we have never been
disappointed. Some of our fondest fishing memories are from our trips with John. Even a
couple Yankees like us can catch big fish with the right guide. Check out the picture of
Scott Ames (my best friend) in John's photo section.

that, but John is fun to be around. He's one hell of a guy
Casey Starkey |
John, Thanks for the great day on the water! Our trip was
awesome! Thanks to you. We caught
BIG beautiful fish and had a great, great time doing so. Thanks for all the info on where
to fish and what to use for bait. Our week at the Fork was great! Looking
forward to
another visit.
Thanks, Donnie Sluman |
I was frustrated with Lake Fork fishing until I went fishing with you. Wow! what a day. I
not only caught a load of nice sized bass, I also learned to find fish in unique places.
Your instructions have helped me find and catch since our trip. If anyone needs a guide
recommendation, have them contact me. I've been on a number of guide trip, but this one
was the best - no contest.
Thanks for being so nice.
Allen Reitmeier |
When you go to Lake Fork there is only one guide to fish with... John Tanner. I have
fished with John for the past 5 years, I try to go at least 2 good trips a year (3 or more
days). On every trip I take I learn more and more. John isn't just a great fisherman, he
is a great person. He is definitely a man who puts his client above himself. Whenever you
get the chance you need to go on a fishing trip with John. Not only do you have a great
fishing trip, you get to spend the day with a friend. Keep up the great work John.

Everyone, I went with John on May 13th and we caught several fish. He is extremely helpful
and knowledgeable about Fork and the patterns that are producing. I have been fishing at
Fork for 7 yrs averaging 20/trips a year. John taught me several things that I did not
know. Thanks John, I'll be back and be sending all my friends!

Just wanted to let everyone know I had the best fishing trip of my life on
Tuesday the 30
of May. And the guide was John Tanner, boy he put me on fish and put me on fish. Every
fish we put in the boat was well worth the time. Not only a great guide but a great person
as well. If you are having difficulty finding a good guide well here is the winner.
Russell Lewis |
John, thanks for the great trip you provided for me I totally enjoyed it and learned
volumes!! Landing that TEN POUNDER wasn't exactly boring either!! I will hope to book
another trip with you soon.
Thanks, Doug McAfee |
Just want to thank John for a great three days of fishing for my son and myself. For you
folks looking for a guide I would look no further than John Tanner he will work his butt
off to keep you on good quality fish. We caught over ninety fish from 3 1/2 to nine lbs.
with John, while other people were getting only 3 to 4 fish a day.
Thanks again John. Larry and Jeremy Hull |
